Trips with Pets
by: Sharon

One of the great things about RVing is you can take trips with your pets.

They are part of the family and when you have to go on vacation without them it's like leaving the kids behind.

I remember when I got my first RV. It was a small motorhome and my little dog was in heaven the minute she climbed aboard.

It was like she knew that exciting new adventures lay ahead.

Until her death she was right there with us for all those seaside getaways, mountain retreats, and fresh air drives where we would reconnect with nature.

Having her along added to the enjoyment for all of us.

I hope you can get an RV soon and that you have wonderful memories of your travels with your family and your beloved pets.

We havent purchased our first RV yet but we want to get one to travel mainly so we can take our two dogs with us. I think they will add lots of fun to our journeys.

Response to previous pet question

We take our 2 Norfolk terriers with us in our class A motorhome also. We use a large enough crate for the 2 of them to be comfortable and move around and I use the seat belts on the couch to secure it to the couch. They just lie down and sleep for most of the trip and I know they are safe and secure in their crate in case we have an accident or quick stop. I wouldn't travel with them any other way!

RV Traveling with Pets
by: Anonymous

RV traveling with our pets adds to our enjoyment as much as it does to theirs.

I would like to know how many of you use a carrier or harness for your dog or cat while your RV is moving?

Or do you feel comfortable letting them wander around the RV?

I have always let my dog wander around my class A motorhome while I am driving, but recently had a panic stop and everything went flying including my precious pup.

She wasn't injured, but I am thinking now that she would be better off in a pet carrier.

I've tried a harness and she hated it. She whinned and complained until I removed it. I think she thought I had just bound her up and she was afraid of it because it was more binding than her normal collar and leash.

If I put her in a kennel she will tolerate it, but how do I keep the kennel from rolling and safe if I were to ever be in an accident?

If you travel with pets let me know what you do to keep your pet safe.

Thanks
